Carbon analyst

About the role

This role is the engine room of our carbon accounting practice. You will set organizational boundaries, build calculation workbooks, move clients from spend-based to supplier-specific Scope 3 factors, and document everything to a standard an assurance provider can sample without a follow-up request.

Expect a lot of data cleaning and a lot of conversations with people in procurement who have never been asked for this information before.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain greenhouse gas inventories across Scopes 1, 2 and 3
• Set and document organizational and operational boundaries
• Replace spend-based Scope 3 estimates with supplier-specific data, category by category
• Prepare assurance packs and answer sampling requests directly
• Track emissions factor updates and restate prior years where the standard requires it

What we are looking for

• Two or more years in carbon accounting, energy analysis or a related data role
• Genuine comfort with spreadsheets, and enough SQL to work without waiting on someone else
• The ability to explain an emissions factor choice to a finance director without jargon
• Care about provenance: where a number came from matters as much as the number
